Powers Of Attorney

A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document upon which we can advise, prepare and register which allows you to choose a person you trust to make decisions on your behalf in the future about your personal welfare or finances, if you were unable to make those decisions yourself as a result of a lack of mental capacity, for example if you developed dementia.

Powers of Attorney can also be prepared for specific transactions, for example authorising someone to sign legal documents on your behalf if you are out of the Country.

It is important to appreciate that a Lasting Power of Attorney continues to be effective even if you lose mental capacity after signing it.

Any other Power of Attorney would immediately come to an end on the loss of mental capacity.

Allsopp & Co will be pleased to discuss Powers of Attorney with you and you can contact us on the details given on the bottom of the page..

You may need to apply for a grant of probate which is an official document issued by the Probate Registry.

Problems can arise at work in relation to many matters such as dismissal, redundancy, discrimination.
