Powers Of Attorney
A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document upon which we can advise, prepare and register which allows you to choose a person you trust to make decisions on your behalf in the future about your personal welfare or finances, if you were unable to make those decisions yourself as a result of a lack of mental capacity, for example if you developed dementia.
Powers of Attorney can also be prepared for specific transactions, for example authorising someone to sign legal documents on your behalf if you are out of the Country.
It is important to appreciate that a Lasting Power of Attorney continues to be effective even if you lose mental capacity after signing it.
Any other Power of Attorney would immediately come to an end on the loss of mental capacity.
